With him, we have lost not only an extremely dedicated doctor and highly esteemed colleague, but also a friend without whose tireless work GISVA would not exist in its current form.

His career as a pediatric surgeon took him from Hanover to Berlin in 1995. Here, with the support of an international team led by Prof. Milton Waner, he founded and headed the Center for Vascular Malformations (ZVM) at St. Joseph Hospital in Berlin-Tempelhof. In 2013, he found the current location for the ZVM at Werner Forßmann Hospital in Eberswalde; together with Jörg Seemann as interventional radiologist and Dieter Hüseman as pediatrician.

Dr. Lutz Meyer has been a member of the GISVA board from the very beginning. It was therefore a great pleasure and our wish to award him the honorary membership at the annual conference in October 2023 for his great services over these six years. We will always remember him for his tenacious commitment to the cause, his humor and his humanity.
